PICTURE THIS: Mario Testino will be honored with a special presentation at the International Center of Photography’s 2015 Infinity Awards on April 30 at Pier Sixty. He will be in good company at the annual fundraiser, which will also celebrate the work of including this year’s Cornell Capa Lifetime Achievement Award Graciela Iturbide, as well as Larry Fink for Art; Tomas van Houtryve for Photojournalism; The Notion of Family’s LaToya Ruby Frazier for Publication; Evgenia Arbugaeva for Young Photographer and Question Bridge: Black Males’ Chris Johnson, Hank Willis Thomas, Bayeté Ross Smith, Kamal Sinclair and Jesse Williams for New Media. In addition, the Lean In Collection by Getty Images and Leanin.Org will receive this year’s Trustee award.
Next month’s Hearst-sponsored gala will call attention to artists including some who used drones, transmedia installations and a Rolleiflex to get their prizewinning shots. ICP executive director Mark Lubell said, “They show us the power of the image to offer new perspectives, inspire discussion, and communicate ideas.”
Along with Hearst-ers like Glenda Bailey, Robbie Myers and Jay Fielden, the 2015 benefit committee includes Liam Neeson, Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, Alan Rickman and Stefano Tonchi.
