PERMANENT COLLECTION: Miriam Haskell is having a moment. The 87-year-old costume jewelry brand will be included in the Museum of Arts and Design’s permanent collection for the first time, and has also partnered with the museum for its upcoming exhibition, “Fashion Jewelry: The Collection of Barbara Berger.” A gilded metal and pearl grape cluster necklace circa 1950, said to be created by the brand’s former designer Frank Hess, will be donated to the museum and showcased as a part of the exhibition’s opening celebrations. About 450 pieces of costume jewelry from Berger’s collection — from the likes of Marchel Boucher, Balenciaga, Kenneth Jay Lane and Gripoix, as well as other pieces from Miriam Haskell — will be on view beginning June 25.
