Vittorio Missoni Aircraft Search Expected to Begin

The search was never discontinued, but the Sea Scout is an oceanographic ship equipped to inspect deep waters.

MISSONI SEARCH EXPECTED TO BEGIN: Following the finding last week of a plane that went missing in the waters off the Venezuelan archipelago of Los Roques in 2008, search ship Sea Scout is expected to start looking for the small aircraft carrying Vittorio Missoni that disappeared in the same area on Jan. 4.

Missoni, his life partner Maurizia Castiglioni, two longtime friends and two crew members took off from Los Roques headed to the Simon Bolivar International Airport in Maiquetía, about 13 miles from downtown Caracas, and sent out its last signals about 10 nautical miles from Los Roques before disappearing. The search was never discontinued, but Sea Scout is an oceanographic ship equipped to inspect deep waters.
