MISSONIS TAKE HOLLYWOOD: Two generations of Missonis represented by Vittorio Missoni and Ottavio Missoni Jr. were present Thursday at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills for a presentation of Missoni’s resort collection, but nine total members of the Missoni family were due to arrive in Los Angeles by Sunday, when the Italian brand received the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style award.
In other Missoni news of late, Missoni chairman Vittorio Missoni was a bit stunned by shoppers’ enthusiasm for the brand’s limited edition collection for Target. “We knew it could be successful, but we did not expect such an incredible reaction,” he admitted. For those eager for a reprise of Missoni’s Target hook-up, Vittorio Missoni didn’t offer much hope, saying the extensive collection for the retailer would be the only one of its kind. In the absence of mass market merchandise by Missoni, Vittorio Missoni was confident luxury consumers would continue to flock to the brand, even if they are more conscientious today than ever. “They spend, but want to know exactly what they are buying. They don’t accept tricks,” he said.
