Mother of Pearl Launches Accessories E-commerce Site

BEST FOOT FORWARD: Mother of Pearl launched an online accessories store as part an initiative to engage directly with the consumer through an e-commerce platform.

The online store carries footwear and handbags with plans of expanding with ready-to-wear in the future. The brand noted that footwear is the label’s best-selling category, along with handbags, their latest venture launched during fall 2015.

The store will carry footwear from resort 2016, which includes the label’s signature leather printed slip-ons and embellished sandals. The price range is 195 pounds, or $280, for a pair of slip-on sneakers to 250 pounds, or $360, for sandals.

The handbag offering includes a selection of totes and bucket bags in shearling, trims, bright stripes and perforated patterns. The handbags are priced at contemporary level between 295 pounds, or $430, for a small cross-body bag and 595 pounds, or $865, for a tote.

Next month, the spring 2016 collection will also be sold on the Web site.

“It feels like the Mother of Pearl girl is nearly complete. She has her clothes, shoes and now she has her bag,” creative director Amy Powney told WWD.
