MUSIC MAN: Ray-Ban launched its Ray-Ban Raw Sounds event Thursday night. Celebrated guitarist from The Smiths Johnny Marr headlined the event, which will travel to Hong Kong and London next month.
Held at the Angel Orensanz Foundation for Contemporary Art in New York, the live music show is a one-off collaboration where Marr has developed five diverse songwriting inspirations. Bands Au Revoir Simone, Best Coast, Mona and Tom Vek were then challenged to write their own track using these five parts as inspiration

“Ray-Ban asked me about performing in New York and then when I met with the team, it started to morph into this bigger collaboration,” Marr told WWD. “You get to a point where you think you’ve worked with all the people you ever wanted to work with, and then, well, I hear Best Coast and Mona and get really impressed.”
Ray-Ban also launched a Johnny Marr limited edition gunmetal-framed aviator, replete with light blue lenses and an engraving of the rocker’s first name.
