RAISING ART, DESTROYING AIDS: Neiman Marcus has signed on as title sponsor for Two x Two for AIDS and Art, the 14th annual Dallas auction of contemporary art and luxury goods benefiting the Dallas Museum of Art and amfAR. “At the heart of our philosophy is a desire to be an engaged and active corporate citizen,” said Jim Gold, president of specialty retail at Neiman Marcus Group. A chic soiree for an exclusive crowd of 450, Two by Two is the brainchild of collectors Howard and Cindy Rachofsky, who personally call artists for donations and shepherd the event each year, right down to laying out the catalogue. “It’s loving hands at home,” Cindy Rachofsky said. Held in the Rachofsky House, a striking white cube by Richard Meier, the chic soiree for 450 has raised $34 million to date, including a record $4.9 million last year. Richard Phillips will be honored at the October 20 event as recipient of amfAR’s 2012 Award of Excellence for Artistic Contributions to the Fight Against AIDS.
