Wunderkind is opening its first store in the U.K., joining Balenciaga, Christian Louboutin and Marc Jacobs on Mount Street in London. The German designer collection by Wolfgang Joop has taken three floors of a red brick Arts & Crafts period building at number 16, which will also house the offices of Wunderkind U.K. above the 1,200-square-foot retail space. The opening is planned for late November or early December. The London store is also Wunderkind’s first outside of Germany, joining the Berlin Gendarmenmarkt flagship and a small boutique in the rich summer enclave, Sylt. The Mayfair store’s design will be similar to Wunderkind’s almost gallery-like Berlin space, which features furniture by Joop’s favorite designers, Charlotte Perriand, Jean Royere and Jean-Michel Frank, as well as selected artworks such as photographs by Daniele Buetti.
