New York City Ballet’s Fall Gala Draws Fashion Crowd

Lincoln Center became the fashion hotspot once again last Thursday evening.

FASHION NIGHT: Exactly one week after New York Fashion Week’s official end, Lincoln Center became the fashion hotspot once again on Thursday evening, playing host to the New York City Ballet’s 2013 Fall Gala. After a brief cocktail hour inside the David H. Koch Theater, guests watched the premieres of three unique performances, each celebrating a different collaboration between fashion designer and choreographer: Prabal Gurung and Justin Peck, Iris Van Herpen and Benjamin Millepied, and Olivier Theyskens and Angelin Preljocaj.

Gala chairman Sarah Jessica Parker showed off a collaboration of her own, donning an outfit made up of one part Gurung (a pink satin bustier reminiscent of his spring 2014 collection), and one part Theyskens (a voluminous silk-organza ball skirt).

“Everyone looks so beautiful,” the actress cooed, before reuniting with her former “Sex and the City” co-star, Mikhail Baryshnikov.

Following the performances, guests debated their favorite performance of the evening over passed dishes of beet salad, fresh salmon and roasted vegetables. “I loved the [Iris Van Herpen] piece,” Selita Ebanks said. “I’m a big fan of the ballet. I get very into ‘So You Think You Can Dance.’”

Other guests included Drew Barrymore, Doutzen Kroes, Sean Avery, 50 Cent, Elettra Widemann, Martha Stewart, Tory Burch, Nicky Hilton, and Millepied’s wife Natalie Portman, making a rare public outing in a textured Christian Dior Couture gown.
