New York Knicks, Hugo Boss Show Off New Uniforms

The team showed off its new-for-2012 look at the designer showroom at an event with Amar’e Stoudemire, Tyson Chandler, Earl Monroe and Clyde Frazier.

THE CITY GAME: The New York Knicks jersey is a fairly classic bit of New York design. So there weren’t too many surprises Thursday morning, when the team showed off its new-for-2012 look at the showroom of team marketing partner Hugo Boss on West 26th Street at an event with current stars Amar’e Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler and Knicks legends Earl Monroe and Clyde Frazier. Orange and blue are both represented equally on the new unis, though the old V-neck collar has been gently re-shaped into a parabola. There are block-stripe waistbands, and a new more retro logo on the back. The biggest alteration was the removal of the black accents which have been on the jerseys since the late Nineties. It is surely a welcome change to fans of the team’s more classic look, but also maybe an acknowledgement of the team’s new cross-town rivals: The Brooklyn Nets will take the court in Jay-Z approved black and white kits come November.
