ONGOING BATTLE: The 6267 litigation is not over yet. Elena Picozzi, a partner in the brand founded by Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi and which was phased out in the fall of 2008, sent WWD a note on Monday saying that an arbitration board had ruled the designers should compensate 6267 Arte Srl, the legal name of the firm behind the brand, with a payment of 3 million euros, or $3.6 million at current exchange. Picozzi said the litigation began over issues of management of the brand. In response, Lorenzo Aquilano, the designers’ lawyer, firmly denied any decision had been reached. “The litigation is still taking place in Mantua [Italy],” said the lawyer.
The designers first became media darlings through the 6267 brand, which they created in 2005, named from the numbers assigned to Rimondi as a small boy at summer camp. In September 2008, they presented their spring collection under the Aquilano.Rimondi moniker and have continued to build this brand.
