Opening Ceremony Creating Capsule Tied to Spike Jonze Film

The men's wear collection includes geek-chic designs based on the outfits of Theodore Twombly, the lonely character in "Her" played by Joaquin Phoenix.

ONLINE DATING: Spike Jonze’s upcoming film “Her,” which garnered lots of buzz at its premiere at the New York Film Festival last weekend, is about a recently divorced man, played by Joaquin Phoenix, who falls in love with his computer’s seductive, Siri-like operating system, voiced by Scarlett Johansson.

Phoenix’s lonely character, named Theodore Twombly, isn’t exactly a fashion plate but that didn’t stop collaboration-happy Opening Ceremony from creating a capsule line of men’s wear tied into the movie, which opens in December. The collection includes geek-chic designs based on Twombly’s outfits, such as high-waisted pants, button-front shirts, panel-blocked sweatshirts, patch-pocket jackets and quilted shearling coats.

The line will be available at Opening Ceremony’s e-commerce site and boutiques in New York and Los Angeles on Dec. 1, followed by its London store in January. Opening Ceremony previously partnered with Jonze on a fashion line based on his 2009 movie “Where the Wild Things Are.”
