OSCAR’S HOME CROWD: Provided ongoing construction keeps on track, Oscar de la Renta will hold his February runway show in the company’s new address at 11 West 42nd Street. While the designer has presented previous resort and spring collections there, next time around will be the first time the space will be good to go. “We are deep into construction and I am doing my best Scrooge impersonation to make sure everyone works during the week between Christmas and New Year’s,” said chief executive officer Alex Bolen. “Could something go wrong, God forbid, and we burst a pipe and it will not be finished, yes. But everyone understands our intention is to have our show there.”
Following what has pretty much been a four-year run at 583 Park Avenue, de la Renta plans to stage two shows on his new home turf. The relocation will call for some pruning of the guest list but nothing too dramatic. “It will be quite a luxury to show at home. That is what we have planned to do since the beginning,” Bolen said.
