FRESH FOCUS: Along with Richard Nicoll and Marios Schwab, Ostwald Helgason is another label taking a break from the London Fashion Week catwalk this month. The label, designed by Susanne Ostwald and Ingvar Helgason, had shown in New York since fall 2012, but the designers said late last month they would return to show in London, where their studio is based. However, on Friday the designers said they had decided not to go ahead with their show scheduled for Feb. 24, noting the decision was “in order to focus…on the development of the brand and its core collection.”
A spokeswoman for the label said Friday that the fall 2015 collection would still be produced and sold, but that the design duo had opted to focus on the product rather than the spectacle. “It was quite a tough decision, but they decided the best move was to focus on building the brand from the inside,” she said. She added that the duo — who were one of 30 labels shortlisted for the LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize in 2014 — plan to show on the London Fashion Week schedule as part of the spring 2016 shows. Sales appointments for the fall 2015 collection will take place at the Riccardo Grassi showrooms in Milan from Feb. 25 through March 20 and in Paris from March 5 through 12.
