OUT AT STRENESSE: Gabriele Strehle, creative director of Strenesse for the last 30 years, is leaving the company at the end of the year, the Nördlingen, Germany-based firm said. No successor has yet been named. Strehle, age 61, joined the firm of her future husband, Gerd Strehle, in 1973. Together with a design team, she established the brand Strenesse in 1992. In 1998, the label’s name was changed to Strenesse Gabriele Strehle.
This is the second top management change at Strenesse this year. At the age of 71, Gerd Strehle handed the chief executive officer baton to his son Luca Strehle in April, assuming the role of chairman. Strenesse has been battling declining sales for some time, with group turnover placed at 68 million euros, or $94.7 million, in 2011 compared to 125 million euros, or $112.1 million, 10 years previously. Dollar figures are converted from the euro at an average exchange rate for the respective period.
