Target Gearing Up for Kate Young Line Launch

On April 9 Young, the retailer and Derek Blasberg will host an event, themed Spring Formal, to launch the collection.

PARTY CENTRAL: With prom season approaching, spring weddings around the corner and garden parties unfolding as the weather gets warmer, Kate Young for Target couldn’t come a moment too soon. Celebrity stylist Kate Young designed a limited-time line of semiformal and special-occasion dresses rolling out April 14 at all Target stores and On April 9 Young, Target and Derek Blasberg will host an event, themed Spring Formal, to launch the collection. An old-school gymnasium on Prince Street in New York’s NoLIta neighborhood will be transformed into a prom-themed bash for the event, decorated with disco balls, streamers and ice sculptures.

The collection, which ranges in price from $29.99 to $89.99 for apparel and $14.99 to $49.99 for accessories, will be on sale in a classroom-style pop-up shop. A prom court featuring looks from the 30-piece line will be displayed in a tableau vivant setting of couples posing for souvenir photos. Michelle Williams, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Debby Ryan are expected to walk the carpet and music will be provided by DJ Atlanta de Cadenet Taylor.
