PAYING FASHION FORWARD: Nordstrom is rewarding customers who do good while cleaning out their closets. The retailer is partnering with FashionProject.com, an online clothing, shoe and accessories donation service, to recognize consumers who give their unwanted products to the site. FashionProject.com maximizes the value of the clothing and other items it collects and donates the majority of the proceeds to a charity chosen by the donor.
Here’s where Nordstrom comes in: Consumers who donate five items — each must meet or exceed $50 in original retail price, be in nearly new or great condition and be one of the brands listed on the FashionProject.com Web site — are eligible to receive a $40 gift card from nordstrom.com. Labels in demand range from 3.1 Phillip Lim to Zero + Maria Cornejo. FashionProject.com sells the fashion on its Web site.
“This partnership with FashionProject.com is a fantastic opportunity for our customers because it makes it easy for them to give back to their favorite community organizations and update their wardrobe, all at the same time,” said Brian Dennehy, Nordstrom’s chief marketing officer.
