POPPY PATRONAGE: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge threw their support behind London Poppy Day — a day to remember and honor veterans of the armed forces and their families — by joining poppy vendors at a subway station in London on Thursday. The royal couple rode on a Sixties Routemaster bus to High Street Kensington Station, where they greeted members of the military and volunteers celebrating London Poppy Day. The Poppy Appeal is the Royal British Legion’s fund-raising campaign where red poppies are sold and worn to show support.
Earlier that day, the royal couple greeted members of the Royal British Legion and members of the army at Kensington Palace. Kate embraced the cause dressed in — what else? — a red L.K. Bennett coat, while William donned a blue suit with a poppy affixed to his lapel.
