PRADA’S HEARTBREAKER: Last minute Valentine’s Day shoppers who were counting on the Prada Madison Avenue store Saturday to provide presents for their beloveds are out of luck. The Upper East Side boutique was shuttered due to unforeseen circumstances. Shoppers learned that from a message printed on blue paper on the store’s door.
A flood is believed to be the cause, according to a salesman working at the Gucci store across the street. “My friend works there and he came in earlier. He said they probably wouldn’t be open until Tuesday.”
Prada executives could not be reached for comment.
As pedestrians stopped at the entrance of the Prada store to see what was what Saturday afternoon, helpful New Yorkers waiting for the uptown bus directed them to Prada’s 57th Street store. “Thanks. I know. I work across the street,” one Madison Avenue staffer said. “I can’t believe they’re closed — and on Valentine’s Day.”
