Prada to Sponsor Italy’s National Sailing Team

Style-wise, the country's Olympic and Paralympic athletes can expect nothing but smooth sailing.

ON THE SEA: Style-wise, Italy’s Olympic athletes can expect nothing but smooth sailing. Prada will sponsor the national sailing team at this year’s Olympic and Paralympic games, through an agreement with the Italian Sailing Federation that stipulates the brand’s appearance on uniforms as well as all the hulls and sails of boats and support vessels.

“The Prada brand is not just a flagship of Italy worldwide, but it has always been very closely connected to our sport and has nearly become synonymous with major sailing challenges,” stated Carlo Croce, president of the federation, referencing both Prada ceo Patrizio Bertelli’s experience as a sailor and the Italian brand’s participation in four America’s Cup campaigns, through the Luna Rossa Challenge.

Bertelli said the new partnership was a way for Prada to “encourage and support those sailors who may play a key role in other challenges in the future.”
