PRATT TO FETE COSTA: Francisco Costa will be the guest of honor as this year’s Pratt Fashion Visionary Award at the school’s May 7 fashion show and cocktail benefit at Center548. After receiving his accolades, Costa, the women’s creative director of Calvin Klein Collection, will catch Pratt’s 116th runway show, which is entitled “Laboratory.” After the final turn, a ticketed cocktail party will be held at the Dream Meatpacking District. Both gatherings will benefitPratt’s scholarship funds and its department of fashion.
Costa first joined Calvin Klein in 2002 working closely with the company’s founder before being promoted to his current role the following year. Costa unveiled his first collection in 2004, twice earning the CFDA’s much-coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year award in 2006 and again in 2008. Costa said, “Creative institutions like Pratt are where the exciting fashion work of tomorrow is happening today. Pratt is shaping future visionaries, and if my love of the industry or my career can be an inspiration to a young designer there, or anywhere in the world, that would mean so much.”
