FOR KICKS: Targeting expansion in Spain while reinforcing its position as one of the world’s top soccer brands, Puma has entered a new multiple-year technical and licensing partnership with the Barcelona–based premier league soccer club, Real Club Deportivo (RCD) Espanyol. “This partnership with RCD Espanyol is a further step in asserting our position as the clear number-three football brand,” said Christian Voigt, senior head of global sports marketing for Puma. The new partnership will come into effect on July 1.

The announcement came one day after RCD Espanyol released a statement confirming an amicable split from its current Asian sponsor, Li-Ning, whose contract will expire on June 30.

Puma, the PPR-owned German sportswear label, has signed on to provide official home and away playing gear for all associated RCD Espanyol teams, including the youth leagues. The company will also hold the global license for all RCD Espanyol-branded merchandise, including fan wear and accessories.
