The Duchess of Cambridge joined Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh at London’s Baker Street Underground station Wednesday to mark the 150th anniversary of the Tube. The royal party met with chief operating officer Howard Collins and various London Underground managers and members of staff.
The Queen wore a Karl Ludwig coat and an Angela Kelly hat, while the duchess donned a teal Malene Birger coat. During the visit, Kate was presented with a “Baby on Board” badge. The royals viewed the new S-7 train — the latest addition to the Underground system — and the monarch revealed a plaque naming the train Queen Elizabeth II.
In other royal news, the midnight-blue velvet Victor Edelstein dress that Princess Diana wore to the State Dinner at the White House — when she famously danced with John Travolta — was sold for 240,000 pounds, or $362,400 at current exchange. The dress sold at Kerry Taylor’s “Fit for a Princess” auction held in Bermondsey, London on Tuesday.
