RED SQUARE: Knocked out of competing in next month’s Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, Lindsey Vonn will be a headliner at an opening ceremony of another kind. The American skier will be among the celebrity models in the Red Dress Collection fashion show, the official starter for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York. After a few seasons off-site, the all-red extravaganza will return to Lincoln Center for the Feb. 6 show. At last count, this year’s 18-woman roster included NeNe Leakes, Joan Jett, Leona Lewis and Ireland Baldwin. As for the designers who will be providing gowns for the runway talent, Donna Karan, Carolina Herrera, Marchesa, Nicole Miller and Mark Zunino are among those who have committed.
Presented by Macy’s and Subway restaurants, this year’s show is bringing together two leaders in the fight against heart disease in women. The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement and the National Heart, Blood and Lung Institute’s awareness campaign The Heart Truth have teamed up to present the Go Red for Women/The Heart Truth Red Dress Collection.
