ARTIST, NOT STARVING: Tracey Emin has just had a private room named after her at London’s hot Mayfair restaurant 34, off Grosvenor Square — and she’s proud. “I’ve only eaten here once before — I was in Miami when it opened. This is my second time,” said the artist during a small industry dinner at the eatery hosted by Tommy Hilfiger and Jonathan Newhouse to mark the latest edition of London Collections: Men. The artist’s nude drawings are dotted around the Emin Room, while two of her neon sculptures — “You Loved Me Like a Distant Star” and “With You I Breathe” — hang on the walls. Emin even designed the room’s tapestries, upholstery and carpet, with its huge flowers.
“It’s not over-the-top — and we’ll be doing little things to change it over time. It feels subtle — even I can take looking at my own work,” said Emin, whose plans for 2014 include a small project at the Serpentine in London and a major show at the White Cube gallery that kicks off on Sept. 30.

“I love the neon — it’s genius,” said Hilfiger, a longtime Emin collector who attended the dinner with his wife, Dee. “It’s her own words, her own handwriting, her own statement, in cool neon, that makes the room glow.”
