JOINING THE SAKS PACK: Richard Cohen’s consulting role has turned into a full-time job. The industry veteran, who has been consulting for Saks Fifth Avenue for about a year, has been officially brought on board as vice president of business development, a new position. His first day was Monday. Cohen will concentrate primarily on the development of Saks Fifth Avenue’s private men’s brands and will also work on other opportunities for brand development at the upscale retailer, according to a spokeswoman.
Cohen’s most recent job was president and chief executive officer of Robert Talbott. Before that, he had success running Ermenegildo Zegna’s North American business and also had a short stint at St. John.

By working on the company’s private brands, Cohen assumes some of the duties formerly performed by Peter Rizzo, who was named senior vice president and creative director of merchandising for Saks’ off-price division in October. Rizzo, whose background includes Barneys New York and Polo Ralph Lauren Retail Corp., helped the company launch the Saks Fifth Avenue Men’s Collection in 2009, a line that is now the largest men’s label in the store.
