LATE, LATE SHOW: As the face of Balmain’s spring ad campaign, Rihanna was hotly tipped to attend the label’s show at Paris city hall on Thursday. The Bajan singer did make it, only an hour late — after all the other guests had left. Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing gave her a backstage tour of the collection.
Later that day, the “Diamonds” singer showed up for the 8 p.m. Lanvin show bang on time, though a casual onlooker might have missed her sipping Champagne behind a wall of burly bodyguards.
Emma Roberts stood out in a Lanvin red lamé shirt and pink lamé skirt. “I just love that it’s girly but kind of edgy. I feel very glamorous tonight,” she said. Roberts said her next movie was “Palo Alto,” directed by Gia Coppola and set for U.S. release in May. “It’s this wonderful film, kind of about kids growing up in California. It’s based on James Franco’s book and he’s in the movie,” she said, adding that her character, April, is a fairly reserved type.
“She’s kind of this girl who’s trying to figure herself out, and she ends up having an affair with her teacher, who’s James Franco. She’s very confused, and kind of trying to figure out what it all means,” said Roberts, adding that she would also reprise her role in “American Horror Story” next season.
Catherine Deneuve, Noomi Rapace and Sharleen Spiteri also took in the Lanvin show.
