DOWN UNDER: The 10-day Australian leg of the royal tour kicked off on Wednesday, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arriving at Sydney International Airport in a Royal Australian Air Force jet.
Carrying Prince George in her arms, the Duchess alighted from the aircraft in Roksanda Ilincic’s short-sleeved ‘Ryedale’ wool crepe dress from the Spring 2014 collection, in buttercup yellow with white panel details — a nod to Australia’s national colors of green and gold — teamed with her favorite L.K. Bennett nude patent ‘Sledge’ court shoes. Earlier in the day in Wellington, she had worn a navy tweed pencil skirt suit from New York-based Kiwi Rebecca Taylor’s Resort 2011-12 collection, first worn in 2012.
After being greeted by Prime Minister Tony Abbott, Australian Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove and NSW Governor Marie Bashir, the royal couple departed for a reception for 400 at the Sydney Opera House.
The Cambridges were later due to depart by police boat for Admiralty House at Kirribilli, the Governor General’s official Sydney residence and which will be the family’s Sydney base.
