The Duchess of Cambridge’s Alexander McQueen wedding dress will go on display at Buckingham Palace as part of the palace’s annual summer opening, from July 23 through Oct. 3. Alongside the Sarah Burton-designed dress, the Cartier Halo tiara and the Robinson Pelham earrings that Kate Middleton wore to marry Prince William will also be on display. Meanwhile, one of the couple’s official iced fruit wedding cakes made by Fiona Cairns will be on show in the palace’s state dining room.
Buckingham Palace will also feature the exhibition “Royal Fabergé,” which explores the British royal family’s extensive collection of Fabergé pieces amassed over six generations.
And it emerged this week that William and Catherine will make another British royal palace their home. The couple will take a property at Kensington Palace as their London base on a temporary basis, a spokeswoman for Clarence House said Monday, confirming British press reports. The couple will continue to primarily live in North Wales, where William serves as a Royal Air Force pilot, but the Kensington Palace property will be their initial London base.
