STRIPE IT RICH: After bed and bath, Sonia Rykiel is heading beyond with a new home collection that channels its flirty Left Bank style.
The French fashion house has signed a license with furnishings company Lelievre, which also makes the Kenzo Home collection, to produce fabrics, cushions, carpets and throws featuring floral patterns and its signature multicolored stripes.
The designs will complement the existing bedroom and bath furnishings produced by licensee Anne de Solène. Humorous touches include black velvet cushions with rhinestones spelling out “Blonde,” “Brune” and “Rousse” (“Blonde,” “Brunette” and “Redhead”). “It’s about humor, comfort, and a cool, bohemian vibe,” said house president Nathalie Rykiel, pointing at beanbags named “68” in honor of the founding year of the brand. Trade supplier Stark Carpet is to distribute the collection in the United States from September.
