WORLD GOLD COUNCIL PROMOTES MORRISON: Sally Morrison has been appointed managing director, jewelry for World Gold Council. Morrison, who is based in New York and joined World Gold Council in 2012 as director of jewelry, replaces David Lamb, who will continue to consult. Previously, Morrison was chief marketing officer at Forevermark and has held senior positions at JWT, Miramax and AmFAR, where she has led marketing initiatives including innovative digital campaigns, creative celebrity collaborations, and marrying jewelry with the worlds of art and film. She was instrumental in the development of LoveGold’s digital brand, which was recently nominated for a GEM Awards for communications. LoveGold, which features gold jewelry, the designers creating it and the people wearing it, was launched in January 2013. “My primary goal is to stimulate the demand for gold and make it relevant, exciting and inspirational,” she said. “We will continue building the LoveGold community, which launched in China over the summer and is about to go into India.” Morrison pointed out the huge opportunities in those two countries, where there is massive gold consumption. “The Chinese consumers are very engaged on the site, and hungry for designers that aren’t available there, so we see huge potential,” said Morrison. The company has a bridal brand called Azra in India that specializes in modern lifestyle pieces that can be worn after the wedding.
