NEW IN MILAN: On Thursday, Paris-based label Sandro celebrated the opening of its first Milanese flagship with a cocktail party.
Located on Via Manzoni, the 1,022-square-foot boutique carries the brand’s women’s ready-to-wear and accessories collections. This is Sandro’s second store in Italy, where the French label opened a unit in Rome, on Via del Babuino, in December 2013.
“We are extremely interested in expanding in Italy, a country where people are very sensitive to fashion,” said Fabio Mancone, head of global branding and business development strategies of SMCP Group, the company controlling the Sandro brand, along with the Maje and Claudie Pierlot labels.
In addition, he said that this year Sandro, which in August is launching its revamped Web site featuring an online store, will also open a boutique in Florence. This will carry both women’s and men’s collections.
According to Mancone, SMCP also plans to debut its Maje contemporary label in Italy. The first store will open in Rome and it may be followed by a Milanese unit in the city’s Golden Triangle.
