Smythson, Jonathan Saunders Collection Debuts

The London-based designer's line for the stationery and leather goods label arrives in stores later this week.

SAUNDERS MEETS SMYTHSON: Smythson’s collaboration with London-based designer Jonathan Saunders hits the stationery and leather goods label’s stores later this week, and the collection riffs on the inventive prints and colors in the designer’s fall 2011 collection. The coolly minimal line of diaries, notepads and iPad cases are done in goatskin leather, in contrasting blocks of green and blue and red and camel. Meanwhile, the pieces are lined with Saunders’ bird of paradise print in silk. “I’ve always felt a strong affinity between what I design and Smythson,” said Saunders. Prices for the collection start at 110 pounds, or about $172, for a Panama notebook and rise to 395 pounds, or about $617, for an iPad case. The collection will be sold at Smythson’s stores in the U.K., New York and Hong Kong and via its Web site.
