Love was in the air and on the walls Wednesday at Manhattan’s Partners & Spade Gallery, where Darcy Miller Nussbaum celebrated her exhibit, “Family.” Miller Nussbaum’s mother, father, husband and three daughters clad in matching dresses joined friends like Martha Stewart, Cynthia Rowley and Liz Lange to view perfectly kept albums and keepsakes from Miller Nussbaum’s childhood and those of her daughters’. Crayons, goggles and Barbies were just some of the mementos hanging on the walls, along with photos and collages. “Throughout my entire life, I was a scrapbooker and once I started having kids, it became so much fun to find new ways to document and celebrate my family,” said Miller Nussbaum. “So when Andy [Spade] came over and saw them, he said, ‘Let’s do something together at the gallery.’ So it was a fun editing process.” In addition to her family’s homage, Miller Nussbaum hung sketches she drew of other fabulous families, including Harvey Weinstein and Georgina Chapman, Mark Badgley and James Mischka and Vera Wang and her brood. Guests were even encouraged to make their own scrapbooks by posing for wedding photographer Donna Newman.
“Darcy’s obsessive but in a healthy way,” Spade joked. “To be able to produce something this valuable is a gift.”
