GETTING SYKED: Amid the throngs of Judith Leiber fans clamoring to buy one of the company’s signature pricy crystal flecked bags for $100 at the company’s Madison Avenue flagship on Thursday, Lucy Sykes Rellie made an appearance — and it won’t be her last. Sykes, the British socialite designer, has been named consulting fashion director of Judith Leiber. Company president Mary Gleason said it was the perfect evening to introduce Sykes, who designs children’s clothing under her own name and contributes to Cookie magazine. In 2008, the 46-year-old firm was acquired by Schottenstein Stores Corp., which owns a majority of Filene’s Basement and DSW Shoe Warehouse.

DRIN-DRIN: Hoping to replicate the success of their gold Motorola cell phone, Dolce & Gabbana are launching a new design in the fall, this time with Sony Ericsson. Called Jalou, the phone has a dusty rose, jewel-cut body with the requisite technological features, including 3G, Bluetooth and photo and video capabilities. Small and light, the phone also features a display-turned-mirror, a pedometer and preloaded graphics and video from Dolce & Gabbana’s fall 2009 runway and backstage coverage. The packaging also includes a black and gold Dolce & Gabbana earpiece. The average retail price is $625.
