SECONDS FOR OVS: OVS has unveiled the second capsule collection of F4YG, #Fashion for Young Generation, its project supporting young fashion designers.
Dafne Maio, a 23-year-old graduate of Milan’s Istituto Marangoni, was chosen by the Italian retailer and her tutor Alberto Aspesi, founder of the namesake outerwear label, to design a collection of lightweight down jackets.
The capsule, which includes two men’s styles and three women’s pieces, will hit 120 OVS stores across Italy and Russia on Oct. 26 and will also be available through the company’s e-commerce site. Prices will range from 49.90 euros, or about $66 at current exchange rates, to 69.90 euros, or $92.
“This was my first work experience, and it was great and extremely stimulating to work with Alberto Aspesi and the OVS team,” Maio said.
“I strongly believe in this OVS project: It’s a concrete answer to the request of young people who want to work in the fashion industry, and it offers them the chance not just to design a collection but also to have it produced and sold at the stores,” Aspesi stated. “Working with Dafne was an interesting experience, which allowed me to discover her enthusiasm, her passion for fashion and her talent. To take on the market is an incredible challenge for a recent graduate, and Dafne was up to the task.”
The debut of Maio’s capsule follows the launch of a lineup by Tracey Wong, a graduate of London’s Central Saint Martins who created a collection with the help of her tutor, Matthew Williamson.
