Amazon Unveils Twitter Shopping Initiative

The e-commerce giant is getting social, helping people shop as they breeze through their tweets.

SHOPPING ON TWITTER WITH AMAZON: E-commerce giant Amazon is getting social, helping people shop as they breeze through their tweets. “Once your account is enabled [with the new service], you can add millions of Amazon products to your cart without leaving your Twitter feed,” according to a YouTube video from Amazon on Monday. “Whenever you see a tweet with an Amazon product link, just hit reply and add #AmazonCart and it will be waiting in your cart next time you visit Amazon. Add it now, buy it later. It’s that simple.”

The effort picks up a familiar thread from Amazon’s model, which has focused on making e-commerce more user friendly, for instance paring the purchase process to a single click for signed-in users. Would-be social shoppers can enable the service on Amazon’s “Your Social Settings.”
