Sophia Webster Sets ‘Heartbreak’ Range

Shoe designer took inspiration from “Mean Girls” for a fun collection.

FOOTLOOSE: Designer Sophia Webster’s quirky presentation was set in a fictional “Heartbreak Hotel,” a place undisturbed by ringing phones or flower deliveries. “It’s something all girls can relate to: Being dumped; unreturned calls. A modern fairy tale romance, but it doesn’t end happily ever after,” said Webster, who cited “Mean Girls” and Beverly Hills as references.

But who cares about a broken heart when the shoes are this much fun? Key details in this vast collection included fur trims across the front or at the back of ornate and colorful heels; shearling lining and rickrack trim in high boots, mules and shoe boots; and folky floral embroidery on booties, sandals and thigh-high boots.

Other madcap, playful styles included a candy pink stiletto pump; a pair of thigh-high lilac satin gladiator boots trimmed with pink mink and embroidered with roses; and a lace-up metallic stiletto, finished with a dusting of crystals.
