TALKING CLASS AND BURGERS: On Tuesday, St. Martin’s Press celebrated Stephanie Clifford with a lunch to launch her book, “Everybody Rise,” due out in August. The lunch was held at the Lambs Club, a former private club for actors and actresses designed by Stanford White, which is now a restaurant known for its steak burger. Most of the guests, not surprisingly, opted to have one as part of the three-course meal. The pretty room was once White’s atelier and featured two photos of Evelyn Nesbit, whose jealous husband Harry Thaw murdered White after he had forced her to recount her seduction by the architect. Clifford said that one of the big topics of her book is class — which, she pointed out, American and English people view quite differently. In a nutshell, English are much less ambivalent about.
