Not all of Paris’ couture collections are conceived in ivory towers: Designer Richard René set up a street-level showroom for the occasion, open to the general public. “It’s a way of making couture accessible and showing people the process,” said René, who baptized the space, situated on Rue Portefoin in the Marais district, with a sale of 20 ready-made dresses priced at 200 euros each, or $315 at current exchange.
