Lord & Taylor Names Winner in Student Stylist Competition

STYLISH NIGHT: LIM College student Grace Hinds topped a field of 100 competing in Lord & Taylor’s student stylist competition and took home the $10,000 grand prize. “Grace said she’s going to give money back to her mom for paying for her education. I love that,” said Suze Yalof Schwartz, Lord & Taylor’s editor at large, who judged the final round of 10 competitors, along with Carmen Marc Valvo and L&T’s fashion director Paula Correri and creative director Corinne Brohme. Originally, 100 students from LIM and the Fashion Institute of Technology submitted looks online. Then 40,000 people cast votes online to determine the 10 finalists. On Wednesday, the finalists styled their outfits from L&T merchandise and dressed models for a runway show at the store, before the decision came down. Hinds’ winning outfit: a short pale skirt, beige sweater underneath a sheer kimono jacket, strappy high heels, a coral beaded necklace, a pearl bracelet and a gold watch.
