LONDON — Sunglass Hut is the new principal sponsor of London Fashion Week, the British Fashion Council said.

The eyewear retailer, which is part of the Luxottica Group, will begin its three-year partnership in September and takes over from Vodafone, whose seven-season principal sponsorship ended last month.

“I think our consumer gets very inspired by designers and editors who create content during London Fashion Week, and we can provide a very interesting global platform,” said Fabio d’Angelantonio, president of Sunglass Hut and chief marketing officer at Luxottica at a breakfast to announce the sponsorship Wednesday.

D’Angelantonio added in a statement that the firm, which counts 3,000 retail locations globally, is “excited to share designers, influencers and trends with consumers in established and emerging markets via our global retail network.”

Caroline Rush, chief executive of the British Fashion Council, said Sunglass Hut has the “shared ambition for London to be this global home of fashion, and to support us to keep London as being the very best place to start, develop and grow a designer fashion business.”
