Supima Design Competition Host, Judges Announced

Coco Rocha will host the competition, after being involved in the competition as a judge in 2011 and a presenter in 2010.

JUDGING SUPIMA: Coco Rocha will host the Supima Design Competition, after being involved in the competition as a judge in 2011 and a presenter in 2010. The judges for this year’s contest and runway presentation, set for Thursday at the Pavilion at Lincoln Center, will be stylist Isabel Dupre, Tom Fitzgerald and Lorenzo Marquez of, Natalie Joos of, W Magazine’s fashion market and accessories director Karla Martinez, Phil Oh of, consultant Roopal Patel, fashion designer Marcia Patmos, stylist Mary Alice Stephenson, Bryan Grey Yambao of and stylist Anya Ziourova.

They will pick who gets a $10,000 prize as the winner from a group of six students representing the Academy Of Art University in San Francisco, the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, Ohio’s Kent State University, the Rhode Island School of Design and the Savannah College of Art and Design. Started in 2008, the annual Supima Design Competition was created to give runway exposure to emerging talent, many of whom have gone on to launch their own labels, show at New York Fashion Week and get jobs with top international labels.
