TAKING THE INITIATIVE: Fashion e-tailer Farfetch.com is launching three initiatives for fall. In September, the London-based company will release Farfetch Discover, a global shopping app for iPhone users. The app will mirror the site’s functionality by connecting users with merchandise from boutiques worldwide and will offer editorial content targeted toward different cities. On Sept. 10, the site will unveil a collection of more than 100 vintage pieces from the former iconic store Biba through a collaboration with Decades in Los Angeles. Items for sale will include the leopard-print coat worn by Twiggy in British Vogue in 1973, logo T-shirts and Seventies geometric print sets.
Finally, from Wednesday through Sept. 2, customers can vote on the winner of Farfetch’s third Superstore award, established to help further the growth of independent boutiques. Six stores were nominated, from Dubai, Cape Town, Mexico City, Tokyo, Seoul, and Shanghai. The winning retailer will be added to Farfetch’s online marketplace of more than 300 stores.
