Celebrities, fashion folk and handbag lovers joined Longchamp managing director Jean Cassegrain and Belgian artist Jean-Luc Moerman Monday to help the French accessories brand celebrate its 60th anniversary.
Moerman — who’s famous for his tattoo-like renderings of shapes on photographs — collaborated on the firm’s limited edition anniversary collection, which features his signature loops and scribbles silk-screened onto the bags. On the third floor of the SoHo boutique, guests mingled to DJ Paul Sevigny’s tunes while staffers handed out fake tattoos. “I should put one right here,” said Julianne Moore, pointing to a bare spot on her chest where her Isabel Marant dress did not drape. Moore mingled with Cassegrain as well as Susan Sarandon, “Gossip Girl’s” Leighton Meester and “Lipstick Jungle” co-stars Brooke Shields and Lindsay Price. The latter two stars came straight from the set where they are busy filming their second season on the streets of New York. “It’s fun filming here,” said Price, clad in a belted, navy Tuleste Market dress. “But it takes a lot of discipline not to let the paparazzi who hang around interfere with my being in character. It’s really hard, but I’ve been amazed by how supportive our fans are.” Shields is also pleased with the show’s success. “We are so excited and it feels so real now and much more permanent,” the actress said. “But it is exhausting. I think I’m going to go home now and see my babies.”
