The C.H.I.P.S. Honor Rochelle Gores Fredston

The Colleague Helpers in Philanthropic Service hosted its spring luncheon Thursday at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills.

HELPING OUT: The Colleague Helpers in Philanthropic Service, better known as The C.H.I.P.S., honored Rochelle Gores Fredston during its spring luncheon Thursday at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills for her work supporting the Children’s Institute Inc. “I cannot say enough about Rochelle’s incredible drive and innovation,” said The C.H.I.P.S.’s Cara Leonetti Esposito in her introduction of Gores Fredston. She continued, “If we had a few more Rochelle’s, the world would be a far more beautiful place.” Gores Fredston connected with the Children’s Institute about six years ago after she moved to Los Angeles from New York. “I wanted something where I could get my hands dirty; I wanted something with no overhead, and I wanted something that walks the walk,” she explained. After joining the board of CII in the fall of 2008, Gores Fredston, who is a strategic consultant for The Gores Group, launched the Philanthropic Society Los Angeles in 2011 to attract Angelenos in their 30s and 40s to the cause. She noticed that New York had plenty of organizations that excited young adults, but lamented, “There was nothing cool in L.A.” Among other efforts, PSLA throws cocktail soirees, events for its members to read to children, and an annual Autumn Party with a fashion show. The luncheon had its own dose of fashion with a Valentino presentation of 35 looks from the fall 2013 collection on their first runway outing since being shown in Paris.
