FLYING HIGH: Friday morning’s dash to the office may take a little longer than normal for workers passing through the Garment District. Some commuters will no doubt be making a pit stop on Broadway to take a closer look at five 20-foot-high birdlike sculptures that will be perched between 36th and 41st Street through April.
Designed by the Myth Makers’ Donna Dodson and Andy Moerlein, “Avian Avatars” will be unveiled by The Garment District Alliance. GDC president Barbara Randall said the installation “tells fascinating stories that embody the imaginative and creative culture of the Garment District.”
The installation is part of the Garment District Art on the Plazas series which is made possible by Arterventions, an arm of the New York City Department of Transportation’s Art Program.
