Trish Summerville’s New Year’s Resolutions

Revving on momentum from designing the costumes for "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and a collection for H&M, the designer looks to the future.

THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON EARRING: Revving on momentum from designing the costumes for David Fincher’s highly anticipated film “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” and creating a forthcoming collection inspired by the movie for H&M, Trish Summerville is already forming her New Year’s resolutions. One includes starting a fine jewelry line sometime in the near future. Ideas for the line revolve around men’s and women’s collections, as well as unisex jewelry. “I kind of like that androgynous kind of feel, of certain pieces that I can intermix,” Summerville said, summarizing not only possible designs but also her own personal style.

Pulling from her connections working with the Black Eyed Peas, No Doubt, Janet Jackson and Adam Lambert, Summerville has no shortage of candidates for celebrity endorsements. Then there’s actress Rooney Mara, who plays Lisbeth Salander (aka the girl with the dragon tattoo). “I love Rooney,” Summerville said. “I think it’s great that she’s the ‘It’ girl, because she embodies all the things that an ‘It’ girl should be. She has good style. She has an amazing face.”
