THEIR SONG: Guests at the grand opening party for Chopard’s Wynn Las Vegas boutique this weekend will be attending an Elton John concert. A long-time supporter of the Elton John AIDS Foundation, Chopard has something of an “in” with the singer. John is an ambassador for the brand and had a collection with Chopard in the past. Chopard USA president and chief executive officer Marc Hruschka, who named “Tiny Dancer” as his favorite tune from the singer, can testify that John’s concerts are usually not half bad. “I’m pretty spoiled, to be honest. I have seen more than a handful,” he said. “I look forward to all of them. He is unbelievable.”
Of course, the real star of the festivities is the 800-square-foot Chopard store, which has been open at the Wynn since May and replaces a store Chopard had at Caesars Palace Las Vegas for a decade. Hruschka said the store’s performance has been exceeding Chopard’s expectations. “Vegas has definitely been hit hard by the recession, but I think it is on its way to a good recovery now,” he asserted.
