THREADFLIP GETS FINANCING: Threadflip, a social marketplace that includes an online consignment feature, said on Tuesday it has closed on a $6.5 million Series A round of financing. The round is led by early-stage investment firm Shasta Ventures, and includes start-up investor Lowercase Capital. Others include First Round Capital and Baseline Ventures, both of whom are existing investors. The total raised so far is $8.1 million, including prior investments by seed-stage venture funds. Threadflip on Tuesday also launched a mobile app that allows users to open the app, snap a photo of something that the user wants to sell, and then list it instantly on the site. As soon as an item sells, Threadflip sends prepaid shipping and wrapping materials to the user who listed the product. The company also offers a “white-glove” service where one can ship items to be sold to the firm, which then will manage the style shots, research pricing and merchandising.
